[Arena] Solar Tomato - banned sun production, Z-Mech, portals and dumb penalties Posted: 05 Apr 2020 12:49 PM PDT Note: This is 3 days tournament. After that will be 4 days tournament - Boosterama - the same board, but all plants are boosted. Short tournaments have proportionally smaller tournament rewards. Note: Practice is available 1 day early (Sunday) (Wednesday for Boosterama). New tournament starts tomorrow (Monday) (Thursday for Boosterama). Enter Arena leaderboard first so that the game "knows" your current league, then enter Practice. Otherwise zombies will be too weak (Soil level probably) compared to real Arena and your strategy will not work as good as you think. Note: During early practice zombie scores are probably influenced by the current tournament week. When new week starts scores can be different. You still can find the best strategy, but absolute scores can be higher or lower.
Non-boosterama special rewards: my prediction - #5 Sun pinata. Boosterama special rewards: my prediction - #5 Sun pinata, #7 premium pinata x2. Sun pinata (9 plants) and Enlighten-mint family pinata (8 plants) are almost the same, the only difference is Moonflower (Conceal-mint family): Sunflower, Twin Sunflower, Primal Sunflower, Sun-shroom, Toad, Sun Bean, Solar Tomato, Gold Bloom, Moonflower. Gold Bloom is technically in Enlighten-mint family, but has no boosted stats, so it's not listed in Enlighten-mint description and has no family icon. Enlighten-mint and Shine Vine are seasonal plants, so they are excluded from the pinata.
It's a recap of tournament #70 - my thread, boosterama. Locked plant: Solar Tomato. Sun: 1000. Plant Food: 3 at the start. Time: 3:00.
Banned: Sun production (Sunflower, Twin Sunflower, Primal Sunflower, Moonflower, Sun-shroom, Gold bloom, Sun Bean, Toadstool, Enlighten-mint, Shine Vine), the usual 6 (Perfume, Gold Leaf, etc). Zombies: Egypt (Basic, Cone, Bucket), Pyramid, Parasol, Pirate Captain, Rodeo, Deep Sea Garg, Z-Mech.
Z-Mech E.M.Peach disables Z-Mech for 5 sec. Other stuns don't work (Tomato, Contain-mint, Apple Mortar, Primal Pea). Slowing doesn't work (Shadow Pea, Pokra, Sap-fling, Stalia, Snow Pea/Winter Melon/Cold Snapdragon/Missile Toe/Iceberg/Winter-mint). Z-Mech summons (Bug-bot Imps, 4 Blastronauts/Jetpacks/Disco Jetpacks). Note: bring Blover. Teleporting zombies is a problem, especially Gargs. Missiles are just annoying because of penalties. But you have enough time to shovel up plants.
Ambushes: portals - may depend on the number of zombies killed instead of time. 2:35 C7L3 MC x2, Breakdancer 2:10 C3L5 JetPack, Future Cone, Robo-Cone 1:40 C5L2 Jurassic Imp x2, Bully 1:15 C4L3 Parasol, Excavator x2 0:40 C6L3 Jester x3 00:10 C8L4 Captain, Barrel Portal at C1 - video. Note: It's an old video from tournament #70. I`ve probably blocked portal at C4L3 with Blover (is it possible?), so it appeared at C1. The bug was fixed - link.
Lawn: 2 green power tiles and 2 blue power tiles diagonally C3&5 L2&4.
Buffz: Bombard-mint (+100%), Spear-mint (damage +25%, effects +100%). Note: I'll ask Haem later, but there are probably separate numbers for damage and special effects. Bruisez: Ail-mint (-50%). Note: see Buffz&Bruisez explained for bruised special attacks. Ineffective: No.
Note: It's one of those weeks when players suffer. Z-Mech is too strong for max level plants in Jade, you need Nastery plants. If you don't kill zombies fast then teleportation destroys your strategy in no time. You can try alternatives: either concentrate on zombies and ignore Z-Mech or vice versa. Whatever gives you more scores. And then you can try to implement both. Two MCs destroying your defense is a nice start. Two Excavators showing up at C4 is awesome. And other zombies from portals. Boosterama will be only slightly better. Imp Pear is bruised, you need Nastery to overcome that. And most importantly - sun production is banned. The best thing about Boosterama is that you are not limited by sun, you can try whatever you want. But not this time.
Minimum info about your strategy: league, plant levels/mastery and score. Or you can post screenshot with the score. Otherwise it's hard to understand whether your strategy will work for other players with different plant levels/mastery and in different leagues.

Survival day hard strategy (this was actually kinda easy) Posted: 05 Apr 2020 11:48 AM PDT

Posted: 05 Apr 2020 02:16 PM PDT The Wiki article on the plant is under-developed at the time of this writing, showing the sun and attack boost while boosted / under plant food, but not about the range of the attack(s). Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2020 01:16 PM PDT Shine Vine is a sun plant, right? That's why we've been getting sun plant pinatas in Shine Vine's tournament. You know what I haven't been getting out of the Sun Plant Pinatas I earn in Shine Vine's tournament? Shine Vine seed packets. Has anyone else run into the same issue? Does your soul ache with pain as you endure this terrible outrage? Have you, like me, found yourself weeping in a corner for hours at a time, mourning the possibility of getting Shine Vine to max level before the tournament ends? [link] [comments]
