Posted: 25 Jul 2020 03:12 PM PDT I downloaded the Eclise mod a week ago and finally got it done during work, so here is my little review of it. First of all, I appalaud all who have worked on this mod. I would not have expected a non-AAA title like PvZ to have a dedicated team of creators this talented and determined. From the first level I could see the work and love put into the mod. Disclaimer: This review is for the normal version. Some people may find the Easy version much more friendly and approachable, as it is toned down to offer a more arcade and light experience. The first levels were a bit of a shock, but overall a nice introductory experience. The balance was just right and there were moments where I forgot that this is not PvZ2 and got careless. The mod definitely rewards thinking and quick strategizing, which is one of its selling points. The progression was just perfect compared to the original game. Not boring, OP plants and the premium plants being obtainable by normal means improves the mod by a lot. The variation and unique levels feel tailor-made for my PvZ gaming taste and I never felt irritated or annoyed by the mechanics. The tier switching system is a brilliant way to utilize the level system in a different way and I found myself often switching tiers to gain benefits the larger tier did not have. Yet there was one big problem that ruined the early part of the experience: crashes. The game constantly crashed, sometimes after two or three levels, but more often after 5 minutes, which greatly reduced my initial opinion of the mod. Fortunately, I solved the issue, yet I wonder if there are PvZ fans who would have enjoyed the mod but were turned away by this problem. The mod is clearly not made for the casual fans and it has its own advantages - it provides a challenging, unique PvZ experience that the first mainline sequel was supposed to deliver, all the while keeping the brilliant artstyle and the quality soundtrack I have always loved. The mod is already a superior way of experiencing the other path PvZ was supposed to take. I hope the mod's creators will look into creating new worlds - maybe even import the China-exclusive ones? There is much potential in this foray, and all I can say is that I look forward to the future of the PvZ2 modding scene and Eclise. [link] [comments]
What if each world had a single plant to represent them? Posted: 26 Jul 2020 12:21 AM PDT Title, but to elaborate. Imagine each PVZ2 World had 1 plant. What plant would be most fitting? You can even invent a plant. I will discuss each world first and my thoughts. If you disagree or have ideas feel free to share. Ancient Egypt: Not one of the plants you find there are very ancient egyptian. Of the three new ones, Bok Choy is from China, Iceberg Lettuce can grow in egypt but isn't native either, and Boomerangs did exist in egypt but don't represent it very well. Bonk choy and Iceberg lettuce don't even suit the aesthetic at all. Bloomerang would be the best representitive if we were restricted to existing plants. Personally I think a Mummy-based plant that involves "Mummifying" zombies, possibly trapping them, would be really neat. Could also be based on the Papyrus plant seeing as Papyrus is commonly used to make paper. Pirate Seas: Takes very little thought. The Coconut Cannon is the greatest choice in my opinion. Coconuts are also associated with islands which is very fitting. Wild West: This is really difficult. Chili Beans, Pea Pods and Reeds do not characterize the Wild West very well at all. I'd say Cactus/Homing Thistle/Tumbleweed would represent this world much better. Frostbite Caves: Nothing fits well here either except Hot Potato but only in usage. If anything, an ice plant would be more thematic. Perhaps Cold Snapdragon. It looks very fitting in the setting as well, almost like a Primal plant. Lost City: I have no clue. I don't know enough about Mayan Temples to say what would be most thematic. Perhaps playing on the "Trapped" nature of the temple and having it be Spikeweed/Spikerock or even Olive Pit. Far Future: Half the plants here can represent it, so i'll just say Laser Bean or E.M.Peach. Dark Ages: There's no medieval plants directly, though if we were to forgive using 2 variants of the same plant, Snapdragon fits pretty well. Otherwise some kind of "Knight" plant would need to be added. Neon Mixtape Tour: Phat Beet. Jurassic Marsh: Although it's not a Dinosaur plant as cool as that'd be, every Primal Plant fits the vibe. Whichever one you feel fits best. Big Wave Beach: Bowling Bulb fits very well, while obviously Lily Pad and Tangle Kelp do too. Hard to pick one. Modern Day: Peashooter I suppose. Modern Day isn't really an era anyways in the same way. [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Jul 2020 03:47 AM PDT Which premium plants should I get? I have 15 gbp on my phone and was wondering which were the best. All my Freinds say cold snapdragon and goldbloom, but I wanted a second opinion from the people of reddit! [link] [comments] |
