[News] Update 8.0 is now live!

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 12:10 PM PDT

Spring has (almost) sprung here in the Northern Hemisphere! We've got new stuff sprouting up all over the place for PvZ 2. So shake off those winter chills and let's go!

(Please note: I'll be releasing more in-depth details closer to the actual date/time the below content goes live at - This post is only a summary of what's coming up - If you have specific questions about upcoming content, they will be answered at a later date).

    New Plants:

    • Shine Vine
      • This plant is sure to be an extra bright ray of sunshine in more ways than one on the lawn! With a rather sunny disposition, Shine Vine serves to both amplify sun and protect.
    • Gum Nut
      • A rather sticky and hard nut to crack, Gumnut will stop Zombie in their tracks by gumming up their plans (and feet!).

    New Zombie:

    • Zcorpion Roman Zombie
      • Based on a manned, artillery-crossbow typically known as a Ballista! The Zcorpion targets the nearest plant in it's lane and it fires a vase dealing massive damage, insta-defeating most plants it hits. These hurled vases also contain a nasty surprise in the form of a zombie!

New Arena Seasons: Season 13 and 14

    • Zombies, zombies and more zombies! Oh, and competitive glory and brainz on the line, we're back with Season 13 and 14!

    New Penny's Pursuits stuff:

    • 35 sparkling-new levels added!
    • 9 new Perks
      • Shockwave
      • Mine Launcher
      • Sun Bank
      • Quick Delivery
      • Plant Food Zombies
      • Hypnotize Zombies
      • Stall Zombies
      • Zom-b-gone: Zcorpion
    • Boost Tiles

    Fixes and Improvements:

    • Healer will no longer heal Dr. Zomboss or General zombies (eg, Cardio Zombie, Z-mech, #caketank)
    • Healer Zombie's staff has been generally nerfed as it was healing stuff it wasn't meant to
    • Additionally, the Healer staff should no longer be invincible in certain situations
    • Pumpkin finally has an idle animation (Plz stop asking, ok?)
    • Resolved issue with Snap Pea where Zombies could get stuck if Snap Pea is trying to start eating them at the same instant as the Zombies are supposed to be defeated
    • Fixed the preview panning to the right side of the lawn before a level begins
    • Fixed a very long standing issue with projectiles that would occasionally cause crashes or other weird side effects due to a flagging conflict
    • Fixed an issue where when trying to purchase something after clicking on an interstitial banner would cause a bad state
    • Gold tiles no longer give Sun during the Last Stand planting phase
    • Smaller UI fixes to avoid overlapped/misaligned text, centered icons, etc.
    • Various crash fixes. Should help with general stability and reduced miscellaneous crashes

Music: brighter days - San Holo, Bipolar Sunshine

If you do not currently see the update as being available to download, please refresh or check back later. Some local App stores globally may take longer than others to refresh and display the update being available. We don't have control over the App Stores in question so you may need to check back in a bit if you don't immediately see it.

PS. As you're probably aware, we find ourselves in unprecedented times. Currently the PopCap Seattle studio (along with all our sister studios across North America, Europe and Australia) are working from home, in line with local health authority guidelines. Given the difficult circumstances, we'll be doing our best to keep up our development and have our games running as smoothly as possible. We understand that games can offer comfort and an escape during a stressful time like now.

In the meantime, on behalf of everyone, stay safe, stay healthy. Practice social distancing while also looking after your mental health in addition to your physical. Call friends, family, and check in on people who may be more isolated. Look out for vulnerable members of your community like the elderly, the immunocompromised and those already in quarantine. And always, wash your hands with soap and don't touch your face.

    We're in this together <3

Plants Vs Zombies 2: Zombie Weaknesses That You May Not Know About

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 08:17 PM PDT

In this post, I will be telling you some little hidden weaknesses that zombies in PVZ 2 have that you may not know about. I will not be going through the obvious ones like for example: Buckethead Weakness is Magnet Shroom or Pelican Zombie's weakness is butter because that's obvious. Also these zombies are in no particular order.

    Fisherman Zombie

Fisherman Zombie can found in Big Wave Beach, and his main function is to stay right on the far right of the lawn and stay there. While he's there, he will use his hook to move your plants closer and closer towards the right, and eventually bring them into the water drowning them. Fisherman Zombie's weakness is none other than Infi-Nut's Plant Food Ability. Infi-Nut's ability is to create a giant forceful that covered along a column on the lawn. This forcefield cannot be bypassed by Fisherman Zombie's hook thus meaning he cannot latch onto any plants behind it. This will help incredibly on Day 28 when you are not allowed to lose more than 5 plants (you know the one). Another weakness would be using amphibious plants such as Guacodile, Rotobaga, etc as they cannot drown.

    Punk Zombie

Punk Zombie is a zombie that can be found in Neon Mixtape Tour and his main function is to kick any plants it makes contact with to the next vacant tile on the left. He can be very annoying at times if you do not manage to take him out but an easy solution on defeating him without making to much of a mess is using Magnet Shroom. Due to the metal rings on his face, Magnet Shroom and pull his head clean of an instantly destroy him

    Jukebox Zombie

Jukebox Zombie is another zombie that can be found in Neon Mixtape Tour and his main function is to play him music to plants to cause them to not attack for a period of time. Usually, the only way to take him out is using instant use plants such as Cherry Bombs, Jalapeno or plants that do damage on contact such as Spikeweed or Durian, but another way to take him out is by using Phat Beets. Phat Beets are completely immune to his music thus meaning that they will still attack regardless on what they do.

    Explorer Zombie

Explorer Zombie is a zombie found in Ancient Egypt, and his main function is to instantly destroy any plants on contact. This is due to his flame of course. If you however want to stop this from happening, trying freezing him with any plant that can freeze a zombie. Ice Pea, Iceburg Lettuce, Hurrikale, etc. This will cause his torch to burn out thus making him unable to destroy plants on contact. The same can be done to Prospector Zombie. Freezing him will cause his dynamite to burn out causing him to not be able to shoot to the other side of the lawn.

    Snorkel Zombie

Snorkel Zombie is a zombie found in Big Wave Beach, and can get pretty annoying at times. His main function is to hide beneath the water, making plants not be able to hit him unless he rises up from the water, which he only does when he reaches land. You could use Tangle Kelp which may seem to be the most efficient way to kill him, but wouldn't you want to save them for something a bit more powerful such as an Octopus Zombie. Of course! Instead, how about using plants that attack lobbed and not straight. Use catapult plants such as Kernal-Pult, Melon-Pult, AKEE, etc to be able to hit him while he's hiding in the sea. This trick also works in the original Plants Vs Zombies too.

    Jester Zombie

Jester Zombie is a zombie found in Dark Ages, and is a little asshole at times. His main function is to return any projectiles sent by plants. Usually, you'd most likely use an instant use plant to take him out but another way to take him out is to use plants that use projectiles or attack in ways that you cant pick up. This may be confusing at first so I'll give a few examples. Laser Bean shoots lasers out of his eyes to shoot through zombies. You can't pick up a laser so it damages Jester. Fume-Shroom releases bubbles out of her... pillow? Anyway, you can't pick up bubbles so it damages Jester. Phat Beet attacks by creating sound waves. Of course you can't pick up a sound wave so it damages Jester. One more example. Bonk Choy punches zombies. You can't pick up a punch so it damages Jester. Whenever you're picking a plant to take out a Jester Zombie, think on how it attacks, if it uses anything to attack, and can you pick up the projectile it attacks

    Excavator Zombie

Excavator Zombie is a zombie found in Lost City, where is main function is to be completely immune to straight attacks and push plants to the nearest vacant tile to the right on contact. His shovel we carries used to break after enough straight attacks but he got buffed later on for his shovel to near break (as if he wasn't annoying enough). Luckily however, there is a certain straight attacking plant that ignores this rule and that is Laser Bean. Laser Bean ignores this rule because his attack pierces through ever object, whether that be a block of ice, or a zombie, and in this case a shovel. Using Laser Bean is a great plant to use as they can take out the Excavator Zombies and the Parasol Zombies. Parasol Zombies by the way are the complete opposite of Excavator Zombies, where they are immune to all lobbed attacks, which can be very annoying when paired up together, but thanks to Laser Bean that annoyance is greatly reduced.

Swashbucklers, Relic Hunters, Imps from Imp Cannons, Lost Pilot and Lost Passenger Zombie

These groups of zombies may all seem quite different from each other but however they all do have one thing in common and that they share the same weakness. That weakness being Blover. Blover is a plant that blows away any airborne zombie, and is mostly used for dealing with Seagull, Pelican, Jetpack, Blastronauts, Disco Jetpacks, Balloons, etc, but she can also take out these guys too. How? Well, it does require timing but it is all possible. Swashbucklers and Relic Hunters are exactly the same. The first appear on a rope and land in a spot about halfway through the lawn, and may land in your defence. While they're swinging, use Blover to send them away. Imps from Imp Cannons are fired before landing. While they're being sent, use Blover to send that Imp away. Not the most ideal way with taking them out but... it works. Lost Pilots and Lost Passengers are both the same. They appear randomly and hang from the trees somewhere in your lawn. While they're hanging in the trees before they escape from their backpacks, use Blover to send them away. There are probably more zombies that are also effected by Blover whilst temporarily airbone, but I've most likely missed them

All The Zombies In The Game

That's right. Every single individual zombie in the game shares one weakness with each other, and that weakness can only be pulled off with two completely different plants teaming up with each other, those two plants being Reinforcemint and Blover. Let me explain. Reinforcemint's ability is to make all plants from the Reinforcemint Family to have their Plant Food Power up activate. Not only this but it also causes as zombies to be pushed back kinda like Spring Bean's PF Power up. One important thing about this is when the zombies are being pushed back by Reinforcemint, for a short amount of time shorter than a second, the zombies are airborne. This is when Blover comes in. When the zombies are airborne, quickly place Blover on the lawn. This will all zombies on screen to be blown away, including Gargantuars. The thing is is that you have an incredibly small time frame to place Blover for this to work, and its quite difficult to pull off. It may take some practice, but after a while you'll get the hang of it, and you can abuse and exploit Blover to your hearts content. If you find it however to be a bit too difficult, try placing the Blover before the Reinforcemint, as some say that may be easier, but whatever works for you. Its incredibly cheap, hard to do but its great to master.

EA needs to do more about foul mouthed abusive players

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 04:48 PM PDT

My niece keeps running into this guy (name is IIINCORRUPTIBLE) when playing, and every time he loses he spurts foul mouthed homophobic and racist stuff at her, or whoever beats him. It's horrible to have to have that come through the speakers when we are trying to play a game as a family, and she doesn't even know what some of this stuff means!

Some clips of this guy (WARNING FOUL LANGUAGE):

    https://youtu.be/UGLyt6hKP7E?t=9

    https://youtu.be/U-k5TIUoaHw?t=8

    https://youtu.be/sQ0eLdToXvk?t=23

    https://youtu.be/KIJgee04Q8A?t=10

I report him everytime we encounter him, and nothing happens. He seems to play 24/7, and constantly spews filth at anyone that manages to beat him or he thinks is in his way.

This isn't OK. Kids play these games. Can something please finally be done?

And yes, I've contacted EA supported, and just got back form replies saying they will look into it.

    No costume parties anymore?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 01:43 AM PDT

At first I was getting daily costume parties, then it started to show up occasionally and now I'm not getting any costume parties. Is it a bug like the 20x seed packet bug that happened before or did they really finish giving away costumes for gems and coins?

    Edit : some typos
