r/PlantsVSZombies' Ultimate Plant Ranking, Compiled From 51 Plant Tier Lists (PVZ1)

r/PlantsVSZombies' Ultimate Plant Ranking, Compiled From 51 Plant Tier Lists (PVZ1)

I decided to combine 51 plant tier lists on this sub and average them into one.

The method I used to to calculate the plants' rank was to give it a point value. If it was placed at the bottom, it would get 0 points, if it was placed a little higher, it would get a little bit more points, if it was place in the middle, it would get 5, all the way until the top, where it would get 10 points.

So, here's the tier list based off of this method, with the plant's average score being marked under it:

Here's some more information and the data and statistics.

    1. The most controversial plants were by far PuffShroom, Starfruit, and Flower Pot.
    2. The plant with the highest amount of 10 scores was Cob Cannon (22 10 scores).
    3. Marigold had been placed at the bottom 39 times, with Gold Magnet being placed at the bottom 34 times.

I hope you enjoyed! Feel free to tell me if you want a zombie version!

My Favorite Plants with Stephen!: Grapeshot

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 12:13 PM PDT

Oops, forgot to post this yesterday! My bad! T.T

To take us through this week's episode of 'Favorite Plants' the great and powerful Stephen Notley (he's probably a wizard, seriously) gives us the lowdown on Grapeshot… take it away, Stephen!

In my prep notes for the Grapeshot entry of My Favorite Plants, I have a single word: "kablooey." And let's face it, kablooey gets right to the heart of it when we're talking about Grapeshot. Unlike last week's Escape Root, there's nothing fancy or subtle about Grapeshot. You plant him, he goes kablooey and takes out whatever's nearby. Nice.

Grapeshot's a good example of a Premium Plant that's basically just like a regular plant, but better. Grapeshot costs the same amount of sun as Cherry Bomb, has a similar cooldown, and does similar amounts of damage. But, since we're asking folks to cough up a couple bucks for him, you also get the various grapes that bounce around after the explosion. These don't do a \ton* of damage, but they do enough for a little extra oomph in the row and column you plant him. Grapeshot's bouncing shrapnel has a good chance of taking out the majority of chickens in a Chicken Wrangler's chicken dump, or can pick off rando Spider Imps from a Spider Imp drop. The "mental load" (a concept discussed last week) is slightly higher than Cherry Bomb, since you want to make sure you place him to get the best use out of the bouncing grapes rather than just plonking him down in the middle of a bunch of zombies, but it's such a minor addition it barely counts.*

I go back and forth between Grapeshot and Bombegranate when I'm picking an exploder: the grape shrapnel does a lot of good work, but Bombegranate's exploding seeds have some use I'll discuss when it comes time to talk about Bombegranate. As far as sheer explosive fun, though, with all those grapes bouncin' around after, it's hard to top Grapeshot, so y'know what? I'm not even gonna try. Grapeshot 4 LYFE!!!!

    This week's Pinata Party rewards

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 01:50 AM PDT

    Just experimenting with something...

This week's Pinata Party rewards are:

    Plant Seeds Weight Probability
    grapeshot 3 50 52.63 %
    grapeshot 5 10 10.53 %
    bowlingbulb 3 5 5.26 %
    cherry_bomb 3 5 5.26 %
    powerplant 3 5 5.26 %
    stunion 3 5 5.26 %
    wintermelon 3 5 5.26 %
    bowlingbulb 5 2 2.11 %
    cherry_bomb 5 2 2.11 %
    powerplant 5 2 2.11 %
    stunion 5 2 2.11 %
    wintermelon 5 2 2.11 %

The game defines only "weights". I am not 100% sure how they are used. It's not exactly probability, because their sum is 95 - not 100, so they can't be percentages. I am assuming that a weight of, say, 5, means "5 out of 95 chances to drop - i.e., 5.26% probability".

Which of my PvZ apps is the right one that I should be going for 100% on? I heard one of them has a glitch that doesn’t allow you to complete the Portal Combat minigame.
