    Coming 'atcha with another episode of My Favorite Plants with Stephen Notley!

    Folks may recall a couple of weeks ago in the Blooming Heart post when I mentioned how we like to do "theme-y" plants, particularly themes that relate to holidays. When the theme is love and the holiday is Valenbrainz, it can be kind of tricky to come up with a mechanic that reflects the idea. Luckily, Hot Date is one of those plants where the connection to the theme is about as straightforward as it can get. Zombies love him, so they're physically attracted to him. BOOM! Theme achieved.

    Hot Date seems like he should be a bigger player than he is. In principle you should only need two Hot Dates to control the entire board. Stick him down in lanes 2 and 4 and he'll attract all incoming zombies into those lanes, then wipe 'em out with a lanewide flame-blast when eaten. Easy AND peasy! Except for the peasy part. And the easy part, come to think of it. While Hot Date is a strong plant for sure, you have to be careful about when you use him. He's costly in sun terms, and his cooldown isn't particularly fast, so you really need to make sure that you get the most out of him. There's nothing more frustrating than spending 150 sun on a Hot Date only to have some lame-ass Excavator Zombie come along and toss him off the board. Okay, maybe there are a couple of things that are more frustrating. Global pandemics and forgetting where you put your glasses might qualify. Barely.

    Still, in the right circumstances, Hot Date allows board control you just can't get anywhere else. And he's so sharp-looking and suave! Get over here, Hot Date. Let me buy you dinner!

    My game updated yesterday (with the new menu layout) & I was playing during the day just fine. But during the night while playing it suddenly force closed & I haven't been able to open the game since. Is anyone else having issues with this or something similar? Thanks for your help.

    Penny's Pursuit Information Thread: Promoting Zynergy

    Welcome back to another Penny's Pursuit Information Thread. This is to catalog the levels and their objectives. The difficulties are separated with "/" and it is assumed that all levels have Imps, regular zombies, Conehead zombies, Buckethead zombies, Brickhead zombies and their equivalents (If not, it will be mentioned). This will be updated as I defeat more levels.

    Featured Plants: Hot Date

    Available Perks: Jalapeno Popper, Score Boost, Sun Break, Penny Shield, Poison Zombies, Instant Gargantaur, Boss Buster

    [Level 1]

    Area: Dark Ages

    Sun Amount: 1700 / 1500 / 1250

    Plants: Banned plants are Blover and world specific plants.

    Zombies: Tomb Raiser Zombie, Pianist Zombie, Jester Zombie, Prospector Zombie, All Star Zombie. Sandstorms can bring Jester Zombies to the 3rd column and Pianist Zombies to the 6th

    Lawn Features: None

    Main Objective: Set up a defense and survive for 2.5 minutes

    Optional Objective: Get 2,000,000 points / Get 4,000,000 points / Get 6,000,000 points & Defeat 200 zombies

    Prize: 600 Coins / 5 Seed Packets / 4 Gems

    [Level 2]

    Area: Modern Day

    Sun Amount: This is a conveyor belt level, so there is no sun.

    Plants: Bowling Bulb (10), Lightning Reed (10), Ghost Pepper (3)

    Zombies: Jetpack Zombie, Bug Bot Imp, Gargantaur, Poncho Zombie,

    Lawn Features: There are graves on tiles C2R1-C8R1, C3R3-C8R3, and C2R5-C8R5

    Main Objective: Build a defense and survive for 1 wave

    Optional Objective: Protect 1 Electric Blueberry, which is on C1R3 / Protect 1 Electric Blueberry, which is on C1R3 & Electrocute 10 zombies / Protect 1 Electric Blueberry, which is on C1R3 & Electrocute 10 zombies

    Prize: 800 Coins / 4 Gems / 10 Seed Packets

    [Level 3]

    Area: Penny's Pursuit Stage

    Sun Amount: This is a Cannons Away + Conveyor belt + Bowling mashup level, so there is no sun

    Plants: Tumbleweed (2), Arma-mint (1), Coconut Cannon (5), Homing Thistle (7), Electric Bulb

    Zombies: Jetpack Zombies, Healer Zombie. The zombies move like the Seagull Zombies in the Cannons Away levels. This is unconfirmed, but it seems that Jetpack Zombies can hover above projectiles.

    Lawn Features: There are 5 Coconut Cannon, all on column 2

    Main Objective: Get 250,000 points

    Optional Objective: Get 350,000 points / ?? / ??

    Prize: 1000 Coins / 5 Seed Packets / 4 Gems

    [Level 4]

    Area: Modern Day

    Sun Amount: This is a conveyor belt level, so there is no sun

    Plants: Primal Potato Mine (5), Spore-shroom (12), Citron (10), Power Lily (2)

    Zombies: Octo Zombie, Wizard Zombie

    Lawn Features: There are 5 frozen Octo Zombies, all on column 7.

    Main Objective: Build a defense and survive for 2 waves

    Optional Objective: Protect 1 Zoybean pod, which is on C3R3 / Protect 1 Zoybean pod, which is on C4R3 & Don't let the zombies step on the flower line, which is between columns 5 and 6 / Protect 1 Zoybean pod, which is on C6R3 & Don't let the zombies step on the flower line, which is between columns 5 and 6

    Prize: 1200 Coins / 4 Gems / 15 Seed Packets

    [Level 5]

    Area: Penny's Pursuit Stage

    Sun Amount: 175 / 125 / 75

    Plants: All plants are able to be picked, except for world specific plants

    Zombies: Swashbuckler Zombie, Bug Bot Imp

    Lawn Features: There are "X" power tiles on C1R1, C1R3, C1R5 and square power tiles on C2R2, C2R4

    Main Objective: Build a defense and survive for 2 minutes

    Optional Objective: Get 250,000 points / Get 350,000 points & Chill 75 zombies / Get 200,000 points & Chill 100 zombies

    Prize: 1400 Coins / 10 Seed Packets / 4 Gems

    [Zomboss Level]

    Area: Penny's Pursuit Stage

    Sun Amount: 2200 / 2000 / 1750

    Plants: Hot Date is pre-picked. Other then this, all plants are able to be selected, except for world specific plants

    Zombies: Dr. Zomboss uses the Zombot Sphinx-inator. Along with these zombies, there are also Head Office Impgantaur and Gargimp Legal

    Lawn Features: There is mold on columns 7, 8, and 9 / There is mold on columns 7, 8, and 9 / There is mold on columns 6, 7, 8, and 9

    Main Objective: Deplete Dr. Zomboss of 5 / 7 / 9 health bars
