My Favorite Plants with Stephen: Pumpkin! Posted: 19 Aug 2020 01:42 PM PDT We're trying something new to add a little spice to how we do Plants of the Week in PvZ 2. Stephen Notley, Designer on PvZ 2, has been the crazed/inspired individual who has been authoring all that flavor text you've seen in the Almanac in both Plants vs. Zombies and Plants vs. Zombies 2 over the years, as well as much, much more. Stephen will be doing a write up on his favorite plants with tactical insight, additional background and possibly history to share with the community. Enjoy our first episode of 'My Favorite Plants with Stephen!' Folks might be surprised to hear that Pumpkin is slightly controversial within the PvZ2 team. Even though he's a plant from original Plants vs. Zombies, which is why pro-Pumpkiners are keen on him, some feel it's a little macabre to feature a plant that has been hollowed out into a mindless shell. Luckily, the almanac entry makes clear that Pumpkin still has a rich inner life even if he doesn't have the usual goo inside. Strategically, Pumpkin may cost more than a Wall-nut, but his secret weapon is his flexibility. Since he can be planted on top of another plant, he's perfect for providing deep protection in your back lines against thrown imps, lost pilots, swashbucklers... any of those impolite ghouls that presume to bypass the hail of all-destroying firepower your plants are dishing out to the right side of the lawn. So rude! Of course he's a natural for any Protect the Plant challenge, frustrating zombies' ambitions to go for the quick win. Pair him up with Pokra near the right edge of the lawn to create a bristling front line few zombies can penetrate. This can be especially handy in Arena mode, where you want to get your heavy hitters as close to the high-scoring sections of the lawn as possible. And, of course, using Plant Food on such a combination gives you a twofer, with the protected plant doing its thing while Pumpkin tries on a suit of fashionably impenetrable armor. All hail Pumpkin! He's the hero we both need AND deserve! Let me know if you want to see more of this little series in the comments below. Meanwhile, Stephen will be back to his usual mad scientist extraordinary self… >.> [link] [comments] | ||
